Predictive Control of Low-Cost Three-Phase Four-Switch Inverter-Fed Drives for Brushless DC Motor Applications

In this paper, an efficient control strategy for three-phase four-switch inverter-fed Brushless DC Motor (BLDCM) drives with trapezoidal back Electromotive Force (EMF) is proposed. the proposed approach, outer loop adjusting motor speed designed using Model Predictive Control (MPC) while inner based on a hysteresis controller regulates BLDC phase currents. To effectively adjust current of uncontrolled in inverter, switching strategies and generator modes are suggested. The scheme achieves favorably low torque ripples improves transient response terms tracking error overshoot/undershoot. Therefore, it can be ideal candidate low-cost low-power BLDCM applications. Also, MPC-based tuned by solving suitable cost function offline manner to minimize real-time computational effort. Using foregoing technique, shown that implementation becomes as simple PI superior performance. drive experimentally verified Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) test setup 1200W dSPACE1104 development board. experimental results demonstrate benefits system.
